Nominees for The People's August, 2010 Election

Welcome to the August election for the People's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. If you haven't voted before, take a moment to look at the rules.

Vote for up to 25 artists or groups.
Ballots can be posted either in the comments section of this blog post or on the wall of our official Facebook page.

You must vote for at least 10. Ballots with less than 10 names will not be counted.

Any artist or group named on more than 50% of the counted ballots will be inducted to The People's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

The cutoff year for eligibility is 1967. To be eligible, an artist or group had to have released their first single or album no later than '67.

Write-in votes are allowed. You may list up to three artists or groups not included on the ballot, and the vote will count, so long as they meet the 1967 cut-off date. If an ineligible name is included on a write-in ballot, that ballot may be counted as a short ballot. Ballots containing more than three write-in votes will not be counted.  The People's Rock Hall moderators reserve the right to not count any ballots we deem to not be legitimate.

Balloting ends at 12:00 noon PST on Friday August 20, 2010.

18 New Members Elected to the People's Rock Hall!

The People have spoken once again, and they have opened the doors for 18 new inductees in our July, 2010 election.  A record number of ballots were submitted this month, totaling 213 and blowing our previous monthly high completely out of the water.

In order to be elected, an artist or group had to appear on more than 50% of all the counted ballots in either of our two elections.  We had our regular monthly election as well as the second of two special elections for oldies artists.  In the regular election, the People have honored:

David Bowie
Buffalo Springfield
Cream
Jimi Hendrix
Jefferson Airplane
The Mamas and the Papas

Frank Zappa

In the special oldies election, the following artists have been inducted:

Chubby Checker
Bobby Darin
Duane Eddy
Jan & Dean
Brenda Lee
Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions
Gene Pitney
The Shirelles

Congratulations to all of our new nominees and The People's Rock Hall extends a very special thank you to Rowdy Harmon for his hard work on our oldies ballot and his continued insight and support!  Our August election will begin in the next week, so stay tuned!
